Densio publishes a small set of LTL freight class and density tools, each on its own page, and documents the data every one of them reads. This page lists those tools and the sources behind them. We are not a carrier, a broker, or a 3PL, and we do not sell freight services, so nothing here is pushing you toward one carrier's answer.
What is on this site
Every tool is a separate page, listed above. Each one takes a shipment's dimensions and weight and returns a figure you can check against the published scale rather than a number you have to take on faith.
The reference material is the density scale published under NMFC Docket 2025-1, which took effect on July 19, 2025 and expanded the previous scale to 13 subprovisions. That one table is what every tool on this site reads.
The tools and this index come from the same registry the site uses to route requests and to build its sitemap, so a tool cannot exist on the site without appearing above.
How the numbers are produced
One data file holds the scale. The tools, the chart, the individual class pages and the sitemap all read it, so there is no second copy to fall out of step with the first.
Every page that shows a class value also shows the docket version, the date the data was last verified, and a link to the primary source. If a figure cannot be traced to a published document, it does not go on this site.
The arithmetic runs the same way in your browser and on our server, and both are checked against the same fixed set of worked examples, so the two cannot drift apart without a build failing.
What this site does not do
We do not quote carrier rates. Class is an input to pricing, not a price, and only your carrier's tariff turns one into the other.
We do not look up NMFC item numbers. The NMFC code library is a paid NMFTA product and is not reproduced here.
We do not make classification decisions, and the density scale does not apply to freight that has handling, stowability, or liability characteristics. A result from these tools is an estimate of the density question under NMFC Item (Rule) 170, not a ruling.
We do not ask you to sign up, and we do not store the numbers you type in.
Frequently asked
Why is there no calculator on this page?
Because each tool has its own page, where it can be explained, sourced, and tied to the density bands it produces. This page is the index: it lists what exists so you can pick the one you need instead of being handed whichever one we chose to feature.
Do I need an account to use the tools?
No. There is no sign-up, no email capture, and no paywall. The calculations run in your browser and the result is never sent to us.
Where does the data come from?
From NMFTA's own publication of the Docket 2025-1 changes and from a carrier's public restatement of the same table. Both are listed on every page that uses the data, together with the date we last verified them.
